Post Surgical Care

Understanding post-surgery care

Importance of post care
Post-surgical care ensures the early detection, prevention, and treatment of complications. It’s important to keep up to date post procedure to monitor the health of your eyes following surgery. We also verify that medications and adequate care are provided, and answer any questions that may come up in the weeks after your eye surgery.

What to expect for recovery
Always follow the advice of your clinic, attend appointments as requested, and always use any prescribed drops or medications.

Protection
When outdoors, it’s critical you protect your eyes from the sun’s strong and harmful rays. Use sunglasses that provide 100% UV protection.

Medication
Post-care often includes eye drops to help prevent infection and reduce inflammation. You may be prescribed a painkiller to help with any discomfort.

Check Ups
Follow-up appointments and eye care should be continued after surgery to ensure recovery is going well. Everyone should have an eye test at least once every two years.

Routine eye tests
You should continue to schedule your routine eye tests following surgery. You will need to have your eyes tested for dry eyes, glaucoma, and other potential issues regularly. Routine eye tests will help make sure your vision remains clear and stable for years to come.
